Popular Nigerian radio DJ Kayode Ojuolape Oladotun, better known by his stage name Do2dtun, has weighed in on the controversies involving Desmond Elliot’s grant of transformers to the Surulere I constituency in Lagos just a few days before the election.
Desmond, pursuing a third term as a congressman in Lagos, gave away transformers to supporters in his area on Thursday as part of his campaign.
In a posting on social media, Desmond Elliot claimed to have ordered the installation of high-capacity transformers in the Surulere neighborhood.
“I am excited to announce that new high-capacity transformers have been installed in Surulere, bringing reliable electricity to communities that have long needed it,” he said.
In a Twitter response, Do2dtun claimed that the congressman was only offering the donation to earn the approval of his constituents.
”Desmond, who couldn’t buy a power bank for his constituency, suddenly buys eight transformers at once a few days before the election. Isn’t it obvious that these guys don’t care. Desmond Import and export,” he added.
