In Katsina, bandits assassinate a newly elected LG councillor and two others, as well as kidnap several others.

At an early hours of Wednesday, gunmen accused of being bandits killed one of the recently elected local govt councillor and 2 other citizens in the Malumfashi – Kafur LGA area of Katsina State.

Magaji Nasir, a freshly elected councilman who was shot in the incident, was taken to Malumfashi Medical Center and pronounced dead.

The bandits who are heavily armed, reportedly over ten, assaulted the Gozaki neighborhood at midnight, firing intermittently, according to a community resident.

Two wives of the killed councillor, Magaji Nasir, were also kidnapped by the thugs, according to the source, but were later released by the kidnappers.

“The robbers kidnapped two of his wives, but after blasting his body with bullets, they freed them,” the insider claimed.
Two people were also killed in Dutsen Reme, another community targeted by the bandits, according to a resident.

Several more persons were abducted by the bandits who harassed the community early in the morning until security personnel managed to drive them away.

This was actually the 2nd attack in the region in April, according to residents.
Despite not being one of the 11 local govt areas regularly plagued by bandits in the state.
