Mohammed Sule, a 23-year-old mechanic arrested for armed robbery in Akure, Ondo state, has admitted that he turned to crime to thrive and establish a business.
Sule expressed disappointment that his plans to create a trade with the proceeds of the crime were hampered when he was captured.
The culprit, who is from Kogi state, was apprehended in the Shasha area of Akure metropolis for looting some residences inside the area by the Ondo state police command.
In an interrogation, the culprit claimed that he used to enter his victims’ homes alone, armed with a cutlass and a toy gun.
“I arrived in Akure from Kogi State last month. When I arrived in Akure, I was unable to locate my sister, with whom I had intended to stay.
“When I couldn’t find a place to go, I went to Ogbese.” I was sleeping inside of the mosque when I arrived there.
Later, I was chased from the mosque.” I went to Shasha since being chased out of the mosque. When it became tough for me to make ends meet, I began stealing.
“On the day I was apprehended, I had decided to raise funds for my business.” I went to two places, and at one of them, a man in the house attacked me when he saw I was the only one there. “That’s how I was apprehended.”
